Happy (belated) World Elephant Day! Brock texted that to me yesterday morning that he heard it announced on the radio or something... sure enough, when I looked it up online, there it was: August 12, "World Elephant Day."
I think I should take that as a sign to finally share with you all a little side project I've been working on!
Ellie & Peanut, reimagined
I'm sure it comes as no surprise by now that I have to make things. Some people bake, some people go to the spa; I design or draw or do something creative in order to fill my cup. Drawing and painting have long been especially fulfilling activities for me and bring me a lot of peace.
I've worked on a few small paintings over the past few years (no, you didn't miss it, I just haven't shared any) but in preparing for this year's 4th of July parade, I was so creatively inspired by the mama and baby elephant duo that I had to paint them!

A recurring comment I get when I've done these large location-specific fundraisers is "I wish I lived closer and could go!" — and it's something I'm constantly thinking about! I feel like video content, especially on YouTube, helps make these projects feel a little closer and enjoyable from afar, but I've been thinking for a long time about what kind of additional fundraising I can do that's still creative and fun but can be more tangibly accessible anywhere.
Maybe creating things that can be shipped is the answer?

It took a few iterations before I was happy with it, but I finally finished my mama and baby elephant painting! Here's a first look!
This week I'm working with a printer to get a few legitimate art prints made (and hopefully little magnets as well) that will available to order in our shop soon! I'd love to hear what you think!
